Société Générale Private Banking Monaco: finance in the service of a universal cause

Société Générale Private Banking Monaco is strengthening its commitment to the fight against cancer year after year by developing concrete actions to benefit the Institut Curie, Europe’s leading institution for research and treatment. This commitment is based on innovative investment products, strong internal mobilisation and a desire to make a lasting contribution to the public interest.

Interview with Émilie Chauvet, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, and Héloïse Tassone, Sales Director.

Why did you choose to make a long-term commitment to the Institut Curie?

Émilie Chauvet: This commitment is a continuation of an initiative launched within the private bank several years ago. As a major economic player, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond the financial sphere. Establishing a long-term partnership with the Institut Curie is a way of affirming our values of solidarity and our commitment to a major public health cause.

How has this support developed over the years?

Émilie Chauvet: Since 2018, more than €2.5 million has been donated to the Institut Curie through charitable investment products marketed by Société Générale Private Banking. In Monaco, we are now in our third year, and each year we are strengthening our commitment to this initiative.

Is your initiative a continuation of your participation in Pink October?

Émilie Chauvet: Yes, naturally. Even though our commitment goes far beyond the Pink October campaign alone, it has been a focal point for mobilising our teams, informing and raising awareness. We wanted to go further by creating an annual commercial highlight around investment products with a charitable component. This allows us to transform our commitment into concrete and sustainable support.

How does your financial contribution to the Institut Curie take shape?

Émilie Chauvet: We organise a major sales event around structured products known as ‘charitable’ products. For every €1,000 invested by a client, Société Générale Private Banking Monaco pledges to donate €0.50 to the Institut Curie.

Héloïse Tassone: This mechanism has enabled us to donate more than €30,000 for the 2025 edition, after €30,000 in 2024 and €20,000 for the first edition. It is a virtuous model: it involves our clients in a solidarity initiative, allowing them to invest while contributing to the fight against breast cancer.

How does this partnership fit into your CSR policy?

Héloïse Tassone: This collective commitment illustrates our desire to take consistent and sustainable action on social issues that concern our employees, our customers and the community as a whole.

Why did you choose the Curie Institute as your main partner?

Émilie Chauvet: The choice of our partners is very carefully regulated. We select recognised players whose missions are in line with our social commitment strategy. The Institut Curie met all these criteria: scientific excellence, transparency, projects with a strong social impact.

We also had to engage in dialogue with them about the principle of structured products in order to ensure a perfect understanding and adherence to the model. Today, there is complete trust and a solid partnership.

Are your employees also involved?

Héloïse Tassone: Yes, and very strongly so. We also organised a conference hosted by the Institut Curie on prevention and screening. The turnout was remarkable. Beyond the information provided, we see genuine support: employees feel they are part of this collective commitment.

Are there other ways for your customers to support the Institut Curie?

Émilie Chauvet: Yes, we offer a charity bank card, which automatically donates a contribution to the Institut Curie with every transaction. It’s a simple gesture, integrated into everyday life, which perfectly complements our charitable investment campaigns.

Is this commitment part of a broader philanthropic approach?

Héloïse Tassone: Absolutely. In Monaco, we also support the Prince Albert II Foundation in its environmental initiatives, particularly those aimed at preserving the oceans. With this partnership, SGPB Monaco is perfectly in line with the Group’s philanthropic programme, which is committed to initiatives promoting:

Education, particularly to support the acquisition of basic skills, financial education, education through sport or the arts, and professional integration, especially for young people in vulnerable situations;

Culture, particularly classical music and modern and contemporary art;

– And more specifically the environment, to contribute to the preservation of nature, particularly biodiversity and the oceans, and to raise awareness of these issues.

By supporting three areas that are essential to society, Société Générale is helping to build a more inclusive and sustainable society.
