As Main Sponsor of the Oceanographic Institute of Monaco, CMB took the opportunity to organize an exclusive event for its customers, at the Museum, on Tuesday, March 12th 2013. More than 150 persons gathered in the magnificent conference hall of the Museum to attend a very interesting conference about '' the Great White Shark.''

The speaker, Mr. François Sarano, an eminent marine scientist and experienced diver, former head of mission on the "Calypso", with Jacques-Yves Cousteau, with whom he worked for 13 years, delighted the audience with his passionate speech and the beautiful pictures he brought back from his various underwater expeditions. Mr Sarano was one of the first divers to approach white sharks without a protection-cage, which allowed him to make amazing discoveries about their behaviour.

Mr. Sarano explained that the great white shark, this frightening predator (the one showed on the horror movie poster "Jaws") is not as terrible as it looks and is, by no means, a man-eater! The scientist even assumes that it is our duty to protect this endangered species (under threat due to pollution and overfishing), to guarantee the protection of the ecosystem and, by extension, in the long run, the survival of human beings…

After the conference, a great cocktail-dinner was served around the tropical aquariums of the Museum.
